West Hollywood Climate Action and Adaptation Plan

Pueblo Studio collaborated with the City of West Hollywood to develop its Climate Adaptation and Action Plan, grounding the process in the lived wisdom and experiences of Indigenous community members. Pueblo Studio conducted in-depth, one-on-one storytelling sessions with Tongva people and non-Tongva urban Indigenous residents to understand their relationships to land, their visions for the future, and the realities they faced within the context of climate change and adaptation.

With participant consent, Pueblo Studio recorded these conversations and crafted an audio collage that wove together their voices—creating a resonant, communal narrative that uplifted Indigenous perspectives often left out of climate planning. This narrative tool became a powerful medium that helped humanize data, illuminate cultural knowledge, and reflect a collective vision for healing and resilience.

These storytelling sessions directly shaped and informed the City of West Hollywood’s Climate Action and Adaptation Plan, ensuring that the strategies it proposed were grounded in Indigenous teachings, priorities, and calls to action. Through this process, the City learned firsthand about practices and principles that could guide a more restorative relationship to both the land and the people whose homelands form the foundation of West Hollywood today.
